The wedding and event lash timeline
A week-by-week countdown for brides and guests: when to patch test, when to trial, when the final lash fill should be, and what to skip the week of.
The single most common wedding lash mistake is booking the set too close to the day. The second is booking it too far out. Both are fixable with a calendar. Here is the countdown that works, whether you are the one getting married or a guest who wants to look good in the photos.
Six to three months out
- Decide lashes are happening. If you have never worn extensions, this is when to find out how your eyes respond, not in the final month.
- Book your patch test. A Lash Test Patch is Free and takes 20 min. Adhesive reactions are rare and they are miserable on a wedding day. Get it out of the way early.
- Get a first full set just to live with it. Wear extensions for one normal fill cycle months ahead. You will learn whether you like the weight, whether you keep up with cleansing, and what length is too much.
- Hold the dates. A solo studio has limited Saturdays. Booking the trial and the final appointments at the same time is the whole trick.
Eight weeks out: the trial
Do your lash trial the same day as your hair and makeup trial if you can, so you see the complete face at once.
Bring your dress neckline, your veil situation and photos of the makeup look. Try the style you think you want plus a slightly softer version. Photograph both with flash, because flash flattens lashes and what looks perfect in the mirror can vanish in pictures. Classic, hybrid and volume compared is worth reading before you sit down.
This is also the moment to decide on color. A few copper or burgundy lashes read as depth in photographs rather than as a costume, and full color is a real option for a reception or a non-traditional wedding. See colored lash extensions.
Four weeks out
Book your brows now, not later. A Brow Lamination is $70 and lasts four to six weeks, which means a lamination at four weeks out is at its best on the day. Brow lamination details here. Any waxing that is new to you also belongs at this distance, so a reaction has time to settle.
Skincare peaks now too. Your last aggressive facial should be at least three weeks before the wedding, and gentle ones can continue right up to the final week.
Two weeks out: the final full set
Get the full set 12 to 14 days before the event. Not the week before, and not a month before.
A set looks its most natural after a few days of settling, and two weeks gives you time to adjust anything you do not love. It also lines up perfectly with the final fill.
- Classic Full Set: $145, 120 min.
- Hybrid Full Set: $170, the most-requested for weddings.
- Volume Full Set: $200 if you want unmistakable drama.
Five to seven days out: the final fill
This is the appointment that matters most. A Mini Lash Fill is $45 and takes 60 min, which is usually all a two-week-old set needs. Book a standard Hybrid Fill at $75 instead if you shed quickly.
Five to seven days means any lash that was going to shed already has, and everything on your lid is freshly bonded. It also leaves a buffer if something needs correcting. Do not schedule this for the day before; there is no margin and puffy eyes on camera are a real thing.
The week of: what not to do
- No new products on your face. Nothing you have not used before, including the fancy sample from the gift bag.
- No waxing within 48 hours of the event, and no new waxing service at all this week.
- No steam rooms, saunas, hot tubs or hot yoga. Heat and moisture loosen bonds.
- No waterproof mascara. You do not need it, and removing it takes lashes with it.
- Skip the spray tan on lash day, or at least schedule lashes first. Tanning solution coats the bond.
- Cleanse daily anyway. Stress weeks are when people skip it, and that is exactly when buildup shows up in photos.
On the day, brush them through with a clean spoolie in the morning and leave them alone. Tell your photographer you have lashes; they will light you slightly differently.
Guests, and the wedding party
Same timeline, compressed. Patch test at least 48 hours ahead, full set 10 to 14 days out, fill within a week. If a group is coming in, text early, because a solo studio books one person at a time. How fills work explains the spacing.
